19 Months ago on December 8th I was attacked by 6 - 8 guys with baseball bats, pipe wrenches and tortured for about three hours. They said they were going to kill me but somehow I was saved as a telephone call alerted them that they had the wrong guy and to let me go.
This happened in broad day light around 1:30 pm on the Mexican side of the border in the traffic lanes about 200 yards from the USA. I was pulled into a souvenir warehouse as I was walking towards the pedestrian lane for crossing to the USA.
I went to Scripps Mercy Hospital Chula Vista and was treated for about 6 hours and then sent home with stitched in several of the head wound and a lot of bruises to my legs, chest and left arm. I had to walk to my apartment on Revolution where a really nice young lady had dropped me off. That walk was not an easy one although it was just a half a mile or so over a bridge.
There are many symptoms of Post Concussion Syndrome - Traumatic Brain Injury. When I woke up the world was spinning and I fell down scared and really freaked out as the spinning and dizziness became worse throughout the day. My vision was blurred and repeated like double double, I was super sensitive to day light and car lights at night, loud noises and sound, I had a ringing in my ears and a head ache, and I had a short term memory loss and troubles with comprehension. After 3 months or so, the vertigo that had me hanging on street poles to not fall down and walking like a drunk seemed to lessen although the other symptoms persisted with almost no let up. I had developed almost every symptom of Post-Concussion Syndrome – Traumatic Brain Injury.

I was really worried that I would never be normal again but I thought that with time I would get better according to videos I watched on line and web sites that I educated myself with. After a year of having little or no improvement I started to seek medical attention. I have no insurance other than the horrible Obama Care Coverage so it was not easy to get an appointment with a specialist. Finally after major delays due to really long waits in between appointments the doctor said he would refer me to a neurologist - something that I had requested 6 months earlier.
That resulted in an appointment with an 8 weeks delay and that surely would have been just an evaluation with the result being another wait for 1 - 2 months. I have been living on $179.00 a month from Social Security - I was a photographer-artist and never earned a lot of money. That amount does no cover my rent in a real dive motel in Tijuana at $8.00 a day. The $194 I receive in food stamps gets me through half a month. Until a few months ago my family and a couple of friends helped me and as of two weeks ago my brother claimed that he cannot help anymore.
Besides the fatigue and depression I am suffering, my lack of balance and the really poor perception I have of distance has caused me to fall a lot. In early June I fell very badly which resulted in a new concussion which has exacerbated my symptoms making the trouble I have with my health worse than before.
